Factual Resources

You may need to investigate the background information from your novel to differentiate the historical aspects of the book from the fictional elements.  There are several print resources in the library and many online resources to help you.  The online resources are found in the research section of the library website.  Pick up the passwords to the online resources at the circulation desk.

Found on the library website, Britannica has encyclopedia articles, multimedia, primary sources, games, and other learning resources that support research.

Use Image Quest to locate accurate pictures and images of the time period.

This comprehensive website features an overview of American history from the first Americans through the 21st century.  It is searchable by time period, topics, significant people, and more.

This database includes a wide range of topics spanning American history and the world.  Learn about important moments and figures in our history.

Encyclopedia of North American History

A multi-volume collection that includes timelines and a complete index to the events.

Great Lives from History: American Series

A reference set that focuses on important figures from United States history.

​

Magill's history of North America

Each entry includes the name and type of event, the date, locale, and a summary with a discussion of the impact  of the event.
